Kobo integration
LAFT is now integrated with the Housing Bank's allocation service, Kobo, for easier and more efficient allocation and management of rental properties. This guide explains how the integration works and what opportunities it offers.
Table of Contents
What can you do in the first version?
The Housing Bank has developed an API that LAFT has connected to. The content of this API, the possibilities it provides and the functionality it has, is therefore under the control of the Housing Bank. The first version of the integration provides the following functionality:
- Creating and updating rental objects in Kobo When you create or update a rental object in LAFT, the changes will automatically sync with Kobo.
- Status updates between LAFT and Kobo Status changes on rental objects are updated both ways. If a status on a rental object changes in Kobo, it will also be updated in LAFT and vice versa.
- Deleting rental objects in Kobo from LAFT Rental objects that are deleted in LAFT can also be deleted in Kobo to ensure consistency between the systems.
What's coming in the next version?
The Housing Bank maintains and expands the functionalities of the integration. Later this year, the plan is to expand with:
- Creating and updating tenancies in Kobo from LAFT This means that you can not only manage rental properties, but also tenancies directly from LAFT.
We are also working, in collaboration with the Housing Bank, to investigate other possibilities that could make the integration even more useful. Please provide your input!
How does the integration work?
- Synchronizing rental items When you add or update a rental item in LAFT, the information is automatically sent to Kobo. Kobo will update its systems and confirm the change back to LAFT.
- Status updates Changes in the status of rental objects will be synchronized both ways. Example: If a rental object is marked as "available" in Kobo, this status will also be displayed in LAFT.
- Deleting rental objects When a rental object is deleted in LAFT, it is also removed from Kobo.
How to activate the integration in LAFT
Before you activate the integration in LAFT, there are some steps that must be done in Husbanken and Altinn. Read about this here: Get started with Kobo Once this is done, you can activate the integration in LAFT. Go to the Rental Module > Settings > Integrations. Here you can click that you want to order the Kobo integration. You will then be sent to an order page, where you fill in your organization number (required), as well as any billing reference.
The integration is priced according to the size of the municipality, and you will receive an email with a receipt for the order (sent to the logged-in user who activates the integration).
Once your order is placed, you can go to Administration > Integrations > Kobo to validate that your rentals have the required information before syncing. You will not be able to press the Sync button until all required fields are filled in.

All columns in the table must be filled in before you can synchronize the rental objects with Kobo. Orange color on the far left of the table indicates insufficient information on the rental object. The color disappears when all fields are filled in, and then you will be able to synchronize the rental object by clicking on the synchronization button on the left of the table. Alternatively, you can check several/all on the left of the table, and click on the "Synchronize selected" button on the right above the table. After creating new rental objects, you can go to Administration > Integrations > Kobo again to synchronize these from LAFT to Kobo. You will easily be able to see which rental objects are/are not synchronized in the table, as synchronized rental objects have been given a Kobo ID, and the date and time of synchronization are listed in the "Last synchronized" column.

How to keep track
Kobo will also eventually have a dedicated topic page in the Insights module where you can see any sync errors, failed syncs, and unsynced rentals. The most common reasons why a rental cannot be synced are:
- Incomplete address. Rental properties in LAFT get their address from the building they belong to. Check that the building is listed with a complete address (street address, zip code and city).
- The building to which the rental property belongs is missing a building number, farm and utility number and/or municipal number.
